As the Haynes manual specs go: 6 slot nuts, torque to 350 Nm, then on until the slot lines up with the hole in the axle. 10 slot nuts, torque to 500 Nm, then on until the slot lines up with the hole in the axle.

Both the Haynes and the German manual I have says that you should replace the 6 slot nuts with the 10 slot nuts, because of the higher torque.
