Subject: '87 Westy central (not) locking
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

The locks on my '87 have been failing and I'm finally getting around to fixing them. I could use some help with something I must be missing. History: Locks all work fine. Passenger lock starts to not activate except manually. Then slider lock just jams and have to force it open from inside (pain). Hatch lock stops working electrically. Drivers door lock jams open and can't be locked manually. Time to figure it out. Get out the Bentleys. Doesn't look there's a specific fuse or a dedicated relay for the central locking. I take drivers door panel off, take motor out, take it apart, clean and replace everything. Now it works manually so I can at least lock the door. Same with slider lock. Take mechanism and lock out, clean, reset and re-install. Lock works manually. I can't find why they don't work electrically anymore. I measure about a half volt at each of the connectors to the motors. Is there a controlling motor? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Jeff H. '87 Westy (North Carolina)
