As I recall there is a circlip on the shaft on the outside of the van. I assume you have removed the wiper arm and the nuts that hold the shaft bearing to the van body, so look closely there and you should see a small circlip. Mine is an '84, but should be the same. I removed mine while trying to lubricate the shaft and it just dropped into the area behind the dash, causing me great difficulty getting it back together.

Hi,

I have a broken driver's side wiper shaft on my 89 westy. I can get at it by taking out the instrument panel, but haven't been able to pop the shaft off the linkage. Is there a way to do this without removing the dash? If not, does anyone have any tips on dash removal, and drilling out the shear bolts?

Thanks,

Louis Rumanes
