Subject:      Diesel Heater in 82 Vanagon

My 82 Diesel has the heater in the back for the passengers.  It
currently is not functioning.  I am looking for any information on
servicing this unit.  Is it cover in the Bently?  When I try to turn it
on, it just fills the cabin with smoke.  (Really safe eh?)  I would
really like to get this unit working, as winter is just around the
corner.
