Subject: A word about Ark Mervis, was: Diesel Heater in 82 Vanagon

Arkady Mervis is no longer on the list.

Ark is an okay guy, I talked with him on the phone for a couple hours about the time he got escorted off the list. He absolutely knows his stuff about these heaters. He is a former engineer, and speaks with a heavy German accent, which makes him sound even more technically proficient.

On the down side, however, a word of caution about him is in order: he has a LOT of love for "The Fatherland" circa 1938-1944, and all the things it stood for. He is pretty sure that all of the problems with Germany today are due to "foreigners"...and he extends some of that logic to problems in the US. I'm a pretty tolerant person, but Ark ticked me off with his anti-Semitic comments.

Who you give your money to is up to you.

try Ark Mervis of Hoptacong, NJ. he might still be on the list, and fixes gas heaters for a living. or there's JB's in castle rock, CO. they also fix gas heaters as their main business. chris
