Peter- you CAN remove & reseal that end housing witout removing the transmission on the Syncro. Just remove driveline, skid plate & fnt mount bolts and lower the trans enough to get at the 6 bolts. It pops right off - reseal with RTV (silicone) and simply reverse procedure (theoretically). One of my customers just did it--took less than an hour for the pro to do it.Good Luck Daryl of AA Transaxle
