: Vanagon 1. Does the 77-79 Type 2 fuel pump for efi the same as the vanagon(86-91)?

Yes it should work OK. CB Performance has one that will work also cheaper than buying one Bosch.

http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog/021.htm Part #7138 has the 14mm inlet and 7mm exit.

3. Is there a fairly simple method to determine whether or not your flywheel surface needs resurfacing when doing a clutch replacement? Mine is slipping badly, most likely due to oil contamination, or is this just a good thing to do regardless of why the clutch has gone south?

If the surface is blued, grooved or glazed, surfacing is needed to keep the new clutch from being damaged from the flywheel. IMPORTANT if the flywheel is removed USE NEW BOLTS ONLY FROM VW (correct type)or the bolts could FAIL destroying the engine at worst or causing the job job to be redone at worst. The bolts are stretch bolts and can fail if reused. This is per Bently.

Robert
