Subject: Planning a REAL millenium new year's celebration
Comments: cc: bus <type2@type2.com>

Thanks Larry for setting the record straight on the "millenium" thing...

As a litteralist, it is driving me up the wall, all of the marketing that is coming out: "Buy a Sofa to close out the Millenium Sale", and "Take a Cruise with Carnival to close out the Millenium!!!"...that would be a LOOOOOONG cruise...It is amazing, the number of companies that are too ignorant to realize the millenium isn't over for another year; even ABC News has an "End of the Millenium" program promo right now. Duh. Back to school with 'em.

On the lighter side, what do folks think of planning a HUGE "End of the Millenium Party" NEXT year for all of the smart folks on ALL of the Vanagon/Bus lists who know this New Year's isn't the change of millenium? We could hold it some place central enough, and warm enough that folks from all over the USA, California, Texas, Canada, and Mexico could make it. I figure someplace like Oklahoma City is pretty darned central, and somewhat bearably warm in Dec/Jan (as opposed to Sioux Falls). Since there is a lot of flat ground there, we could do it kind like Burning Man...instant city, then Poof, it is gone.

I'm not on the type 2 list, so let me know (p-mail) what folks think sometime between now, and next August.

That one, December 31, 2000, is the true end of the millennium, contrary to popular belief. So you've got some time left! Larry
