In NC, phosphates (in detergents and soaps) were banned about 8 years ago when our rivers became choked with run-away plant live, and "red tide" closed the beaches. Too much of a good thing, isn't. Maybe you see this discharge as "good for the environment"... my gray water is an unsanitary slurry of pasta flakes, toothpaste spittle, egg bits, coffee grinds, and other stuff that fouls the campsite for the next person, attracting insects and bacteria, leaving a foul smell. I'm with the folks who are looking for a decent way to haul it away to proper disposal.

Gray water is full of phosphates and good for the environment. It makes the grass greener and taller.

Dear List,

The Reliance Fold-a-Carrier makes a great Westy gray water tank. It folds flat to store while on the road, then expands to a free-standing unit for gray water collection.

It has a spout that can be removed to accept a hose from the drain outlet. I use a cut-off garden hose, which allows me to discreetly position the Fold-a-Carrier behind the front tire.

Campmor(www.campmor.com)has the whole size range. They come in 1.5, 2.5, and 5 gallon sizes (I use 2.5).

The only pic I found (5 gal) was at a YK2 "prep" site: http://www.y2kration.com/products/water.html
