RE: FYI Eberspracher (now called ESPAR) Heaters

The following is a response to me from Bill Sanders, at Coppersmith, Inc. Dealers in Eberspracher Heaters. He may be able to clarify your heater questions, as he is extremely knowledgable on the subject. (Usual disclaimers apply!)

".....(snip) 1. Regarding the name. The Germans wanted the Americans and Canadians to have a name that they could pronounce; so they formed up a division called Espar Co. They just took some letters from their real name (Eberspacher) and shortened it some to Espar.

In this way the North Americans had something that they could both pronounce and spell. I think it was very decent of the Germans to do this and save all of those embarrassing situations.

2. Regarding heater size, the old B2L was a 2.0 kilowatt heater. The new B1LC is now a 2.2 kilowatt heater. (it started out as a 1.0 kilowatt heater). This means that the new B1LC produces about 10% more heat than the old B2L. (B1LC is replacement model for B2L)

3. In addition, the B1LC has many new control and safety features over the older heater (i.e. automatic control over four heat levels).

4. ....plus shipping and customs ........(additional) (snip) ":
