hmmm, my 84 vanagon's jack is WAY WAY WAY diferent than any of the 8 or 10 type 1 jacks i've had. My vanagon jack is a screw-type jack where the type one jack clicks its way up a pole with divots in it. hope this helps more than fogs up the issue.
