This discussion has been hashed out on the List before (actually about this time last year) and I really don't feel that it is worth discussing all over again. Instead of just wondering or guessing about this isssue, I went to the junkyard and took a look at the trannies. They are nothing like the Vanagon trannies. I won't work or if you could make it work, it would be way easier/cheaper to get an adapter plate and bolt one of these motors up to a Vanagon transaxle that had been beefed-up and regeared for this application. We had one list member last year who just kept rambling on and on about this idea and never did any research, etc (now he is off list thank Heaven). So if you want to check out what has been said and done about it please check the archives. Hate to be a party pooper but we have been there and done that as they say, Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16 |
