I bought a Brooklands Books compilation this summer titled "VW Bus Camper Van 1979-89" which is a compilation of road tests from USA, UK, SA and Australia. There are several tests of the Syncros there, with different engines. Car and Driver tested the nonGL camper Syncro in issue #feb. 86, their reported 0-60 was 18,3 secs for the US version (95 hp). The British magazine Autocar tested the 1,9 Syncro (carb. 78 hp, 7 seater GL). That version needed 24,7 secs to get to 60 mph from stand still. One year later, the same mag tested the Syncro again, this time with the 112 hp engine (the one I have :-)), which did 0-60 mph in 17,2 secs. Of course, all of these test were done on stock tires, 185R14 on the two British tests, and 205/70R14 on the US test.

Btw, the book has ISBN 1 870642 783. It is a very interesting compilation, and well worth the money. It provides plenty of datas from road tests, and also different point of views from various authors on different versions of the van.
