Hrmm. I bought my van with a set of AMC heads on it. I pulled them when I noticed white crust building up of the junction of the rubber gasket and the head. Sure enough, the heads were pitted... I don't know how many miles those heads had on them or for how long the heads were on the van (in terms of time), but they did suffer from crevice corrosion under the head gasket...
