While I'm having no luck finding a nice pop top in the mid west for my
84 westy I am planning ahead optimistically for the day that I do find
one!

My question is that when I took the pop top off my 84 the canvas was
attached to the pop top with a nice extruded aluminum channel like the
one that holds the canvas to the body of the van. This is a clean and
simple way to attach in contrast to what the manual shows which is a
messy stapling process. In fact, the pop top is very different than the
81 top I've looked at where there is a wood strip in the pop top for
stapling. The 84 top has a nice molded grove in the top for a sewn vinyl
strip on the campus to rest in. The top also seems to be more heavily
constructed with an obvious reinforcing strip along the bottom insides
of the top.

So.....do the 84 and newer potpies have this nice aluminum clamping
system on the pop top to hold the canvas in place? And...... have any of
you bought this type of canvas replacement from any of the vendors?
