Subject: 82 Diesel Coolant Expansion tank needed NY
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi all, I picked up an 82 Vanagon diesel and it needs a coolant expansion tank and cap. It seems that the one I have has the wrong cap and even if it was the right one the lip it's supposed to seal against in the inside of the filler neck is quite pitted and corroded. This is causing it to suck air into the system which ends up in the heater core and seems to be the reason why I'm not getting any heat no matter how much I bleed the darn thing. (does this sound plausible or am I up the wrong tree here?) Anyway, If anyone has a tank and a correct cap for sale I would be happy to pay a fair price for it. or any info that you could bestow on me would be very appreciated. PS This tank is unique to the diesel as it has a smaller upper hose attachment area than gas ones I've seen. Also it has no coolant temp sensor or sensor hole even.
