Subject: $ for Rebuilt vs Used Trannys
Content-Type: text/plain

I have been looking for a good used tranny for my 1982 westy. The one I have is ok except the 3rd gear synchro which gives me a bit of time to shop.

My question to the list is ..... why do folks selling very used trannys want about the same price as rebuilds from Ron at the bus depot? Are the rebuilds that bad or are the used trans. overpriced? I have a few rebuildable cores. Why would someone pay $4-500 for used when a rebuild with a 12 month warrenty cost a few bucks more.

Am still looking for a used trans for about 200 plus shipping or will fork out for a rebuild when I am in greater need.
