Bob; I agree with what you are saying but what about attention to detail when you rebuild? That is to say careful balancing of reciprocating parts, porting of heads (inlet and outlet), improving breathing and exhaust flow. Surely this counts for pony increase without taking away from longevity. I saw 1.25 ratio rocker arms are available for under $100. I think I know the pluses, but what are the minuses? I have also seen the water cooled heads are available with bigger valves. I can not picture, in my mind, how that was accomplished. If memory serves me they were already almost touching! Must not have been much of an increase (i.e. small %?). Please feel free to enlighten me; my crew cab is coming upon 200,000 miles. I am gathering info for it's first rebuild, although it still purrs like a kitten. Okay, a rather large, inebriated, flatulent lion. #;-p} Drive Safely & Good Luck Ken Lewis<Kernersville,NC>86 VW crewcab;60 T-5 Coupe
