Well, if you want as much as a household room heater (5000 BTU/hr, roughly) it's going to cost you about 100 amps at 12v. Better think in terms of a fuelled heater of some sort. And check out http://bulley-hewlett.com/VWindex/ to see how you can make your stock heater drive you out of the van.
