I noticed a number of volks have done or are doing the Eurospec
conversion. To those who have done it I have a few questions.
When I did my conversion of my diesel camper I used the diesel
components, oil pan, oil pump, engine mounts etc. Is Eurospec using the
same components or are they fabricating their own parts?
What type of exhaust manifolds are they using? In the interest of
saving time and money, I originally used the diesel exhaust, after about
a year, I got ambious and installed a Dasher diesel manifold and rabbit
dual downpipe, what a difference in power! I noticed the same droning
on my engine until I upgraded to the rabbit style exhaust and then I
hung the pipes and muffler from universal hangers from the bus. It
worked great. I have since discovered that the late Golf/Jetta dual
outlet manifold and down pipe will possible fit next to the engine
mount. Which should make the engine run better. (larger ports)
How is the power and torque curve? That seemed to be the biggest
problem with my bus. The torque and power curve was late and the engine
seemed a bit sluggish until I hit about 2300 RPM's then it seemed to
take off. Then I could run it up to 6000 RPMs easy. I fiddled with the
fuel mixture with no help, I finally, installed a adjustable cam gear
and advanced it 6 degrees and that helped the low end come on sooner.
Just wondering how things are working out. I emailed Eurospec these
questions, but I never received an answer back.
I'm debating doing another conversion of this type to my new camper
but for the time being, I'll stick to the old wasserboxer. Thanks, take
care.
