One other thing that hasn't been discussed yet is the fact that Fram and other no-name filters have bigger holes in the filter material than the Mahle/Mann filters. This is supposed to allow for better flow and less restriction, but it also creates a lower oil pressure condition in the engine (that's why oil light flickers at idle after the engine warms up). If I had a dollar for every person that has driven over here with a no-name filter complaining of lifter tapping and oil light flickering... All I have to do is look under the van and see that ugly orange or white filter and I know what the problem is. I have a bunch of the Mann filters here right now for $4.25 each if you buy 5 at a time or $5 each for singles.
