If you can't stomack the cost of new VW shafts, seek a specialty driveline
machine shop and ask then whether replacement of the u-joints and precise
rebalancing is possable. Ask about their experiance with BMW two piece
axels. If they have been successful with these they know their stuff as
typically factory reman is the only sure fix for those as they are marked
and balance as an assembled unit, which takes very expensive special
equipment to prevent vibrations. When it comes to driveshafts, wheels and
such, there are no good vibrations.
