I am using a VDO cylinder head temp gauge with a VDO sender under the #3 spark plug. I am also using quad tip platinum plugs. I was using 3 electrode copper plugs but the temps went to 350 degrees.

I have a customized 2L T4 engine. I am running a set of zero-deck square port heads (same head used in Vanagons, they are from a 79 bus though). The engine was designed to eliminate the troublesome head gasket. I also am using a modified 914 Porsche Bursh racing exhaust. I have dual dual-throat Dellorto 40mm carbs with the update kit (Temps went down with the kit). And a full race balance.

In the spring when the fuel formula changes, the temps go down...

This is my other "Customized" VW
