Tighten up the hinge rivets by hitting them with a ball peen hammer
while holding a body working dolly against the rivet head.  (Open the
bed and remove the front pad to reach the rivets, two on each hinge.)
They also will rattle when loose, which is why I did this to mine.  As
the bed top moves forward it has enough momentum for the loose hinge to
raise it about an inch, and that is why you are digging holes in the
top.  "Like new" tightness in the hinge will hold everything quietly in
place!

Note, if you cannot get the hinge tight enough with this method, drill
out one of the rivets and replace it with a machine screw, washers, and
a self locking nut that you wrench fairly tight.  Permanent fix!
