Something I discovered a year or two ago when I re-did all of my lines was that on top of each expansion tank is a one way air valve. This valve has a seal to fit on the expansion tank. One of expoansion tank seals was worn providing a poor seal on top.

If you notice the expansion tanks drain vertically into theese hoses which connect into the top of the gas tank. Wheel spray in the wheel well gets on top of the expansion tank, drains into expansion tank, into fuel lines, into gas tank. Check the seals on your expansion tanks when you do your lines. Just a thought. Mine is an 82 westy, YYMMV. Ken Wyatt 82 westy
