No, but I believe the hi tech Lucas ignition system was ready to fry. Unquestionably the funniest auto parts joke ever told was, "Why do the English drink warm beer?" The answer:"Because they own Lucas refrigerators!" I just had to tell that one for the 3 or 4 of you out there that either haven't heard it or have owned a BMC vehicle in your lifetime. I promise to find some vanagon content next trip.
