JOHN & FELLOW VANAGEEKS,

: 1) What was the good MPG and what is it now? It was 20mpg now just slightly over 10mpg...OUCH! I'm planning a 500 mile round trip next week. (to Los Angeles, Calif.)

: 2) Has ANYTHING been done to the vehicle lately? I bought an 83 Toyota, I think the Vanagon is jealous, the Toyota is almost always taken because it gets 27mpg.... The Bronze Beauty makes me feel like a trader. ;0(

: 3) Does the engine miss or emit black exhaust? I do hear a slight misfire, I think, but it's not obvious.

: 4) Does the engine start and run OK? It starts on the first try. And it has decent power, I hear complaints about no power but for a bus, I'm ok with it's speed on an incline. If you don't know by now I live in the mountains.

: 5) Are there any other (seemingly unrelated) problems? Gas smell in the oil. <grumble, grumble> I have new TEMP. 2 SENSOR, PLUGS & WIRES, O2 , ROTOR & CAP, air filter & Gas filter... Any other suggestion?

MtnGAL
