I was able to use a very odd set of brass nipples/30's and 45's to get the
DOP sender inside the stone guard aaand away from the pushrod tubes.  Will
be draining coolant in a couple weeks and could photograph it or at least
refresh my memory and draw a diagram.  It can be done.
