Guilty of not reading the question carefully.  No a VW does not used a
closed end bearing, but yes, the Sachs kits do come with the correct bearing
(same part number as Bob listed above).  If your Sachs kit came with any
bearing other than that, it's the first one I've ever heard of that did.
