My '87 Adventurewagen has an aftermarket AC mounted inside the dash. The

radio was relocated for the sake of two air vents in the center of the dash, the two outer vents were re-ducted to provide conditioned air only, two blower switches (six speeds!), and most of the glovebox cut away for an insulated box. Made by Bauer(?) in California, I believe. Impressive except it's not working.

the blowers would not be redundent. You would also have to put an evaperator in the rear heater core, for the rear.
