Another Castrol user here!   I'm using Castrol GTX 20W-50 for summer
(sorry, we have no spring and fall) and Castrol GTX 10W-40 during the
winter.  Then I always use Bosch, Mann, Michelin, Castrol etc. on my VW's
to keep those as Euro favor as possible.

BTW, isn't Castrol Synthetic 5W-50 more suitable for VW's than Mobil 1
15W-50 simply by offering lower viscosity (5W) for winter time?  According
to the viscosity/temperature chart by VW, the temperature range on 15W can
only reach to as low as 7 degree F.
