The heat on your 1981 CAN work, and can actually heat you out of the van.
Check out our site. For far less than the cost of a secondary heat source,
you can have real heat from your air cooled motor.


Went camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway over the past few days in our 1982
Westy; over night temps around 30 F, daytime highs around 50 F. Drove with
the heat at about 10-20%. 100% would become unbearable within a minute or

I've given up on getting the heater on my '81 Vanagon to work, and have
decided to go for an alternative thermal source.  I was wondering if any
one
has had decent experience with DC heaters (I have an extra battery)?  Names
of manufacturers, retailers, and any improv installation work is
appreciated.
