        If turning off the engine momentarily cures the problem then the
following probably is not the problem, but....you may want to take a
gander at the Throttle valve switch checking procedure on page 24.58 in
the Bentley. It might be time to actually get out the feeler gauge and
check the actuation point.  In my experience this setting is critical. It
seems like I do this annually on our 85 and two or three times on my 86.
Whenever a weird problem crops up (bucking, surging, poor idle, etc.) I
run through this adjustment before I start replacing parts.
