Now to rekindle The Great Bra Debate...

I have a VW bra, and use it about 80% of the time. It is a PITA to get on and off, because the late model bumpers interfere with the bottom-most retaining clips. I take it off every time I wash the car (~once a week) and give it a good scrubbing inside and out, then hang it to dry. I never drive with it wet (if it rains, I remove it).

On long drives, I have noticed some discoloration of the paint (temporary) in areas like around the headlights and at the edges nearest the door openings. I attribute this to some flapping while driving. There is definitely some mild rubbing going on here, but I clean and wax the area every time I have the bra off just to be safe. Also, I feel that keeping the bra scrupulously clean will avoid serious abrasion. It is a trade-off for avoiding the bugs in the radiator and the stone chips...

Plus, it looks cool... ;-)

Has anyone out there had long term use effects from installing a bra ? I painted my van last year, always wax it etc, but a few new stone chips have me thinking about it. what about moisture dampness ? Do they dryout ? Effects on paint long term ,rust buildup etc etc. THANKS.
