Grant-

I may be swimming in water that's too deep, as I don't know everything about harmonic balancers. The other hand, I have read and practiced quite a bit on balancing and silencing motors, so I hope this helps.

The flywheel, counter-weighted crank, and reciprocating parts in a Jetta motor are *supposed* to be balanced as a unit. The intermediate shaft, which counter-rotates (opposite the crankshaft), acts as a torque damper/balancer. If your motor has a buzz at a certain speed, you may have some parts out of spec. Every H20 VW I've driven was smooth as silk all the way to redline...

I've been reading up on harmonic balancers and I think that one of these on my Eurospec motor might kill the "buzz" at 3500-400 rpm. What does the list think? Has anyone heard of a harmonic balancer for a Jetta?
