Look on the seams where the body comes together. If they aren't rusty then you should be OK (although Maine life is a little harder on cars than here in Jersey).

The starter shouldn't be a problem (I have a used one for a good price if you need one) and hoses should'nt be too bad either it just depends on which ones (I have almost all the hoses for the 2.1l engine listed on my website for sale under the Parts Search). Most of the hoses can be purchased through me for a reasonable rate. There are about 6 that I haven't been able to find anywhere but at the dealer.

This sounds like a good deal to me as long as the tranny is OK (auto or manual?). If you wanted you could buy a used starter before you went to look at it and then install it and a spare battery and do your compression tests (it would only take 15 mins to install the starter and battery and then you would know what you were getting into).

I would at least try to turn the engine over with a wrench to be sure it wasn't siezed. Look at the fuel injection setup and try to verify that all the pieces are still there (this can get expensive) Don't forget to look under the rear seat for the ECU.

Hope this helps you, Ken Wilford http://www.vanagain.com John 3:16 Office (856)-765-1583 Shop (856)-327-0027 Fax (856)-327-2242
