Subject: German Golfs (was RE: Diesels in California?!)
Comments: To: Per Lindgren <lindgre@online.no>

I surveyed the cars at my dealer's lot. The window stickers show country of manufacture. The Golfs all say Germany. The Cabrios, Jettas and New Beetles say Mexico. I'm certain mine came from Germany, because I ordered it in July and was given regular updates from VW on its production status and when it left port in Germany for Boston.

Really? I thought that all Golfs and Jettas for the North American market was produced in Mexico. They even put together the Cabrio there. I know that the VR6 engines were imported to Mexico from Germany.
