On my 88 Wolfsburg the wire harness going to the hall sensor had cracked where it curved down to plug into the hall sensor and had been shorting out against the AC stand. I replaced the hall sensor and later discovered that the ECU had also been damaged (a resister had went out of tolerance and the hall sensor overloaded the ECU and basically ignored the hall sensor signal. I had the most power between 3200 - 4000 RPMs) Darrell (midwesty@midwest.net (Darrell Boehler)) fixed my ECU for $100. I am waiting for my tranny to return to try out the ECU fix.

Robert
