Some/all of the TD Jettas came with harmonic/vibration dampers as did the AAZ (1.9TD), 1Y (1.9NA diesel), and some/all of the 16 valve gas inline fours. It is my understanding that they protect the crankshaft from breaking. I priced them at VW...$375. -Dana-
