I have this air conditioner in my '84 GL (now a parts car). It worked pretty
good particularly for the front passengers. Doesn't circulate as well to the
rear. A little bit noisier than the AC on my 87GL.

Today, while sifting through the local yard, I came upon a watercooled
Vanagon with just a front-ceiling mounted AC unit. Not the normal
full-length unit most commonly seen. Is this a rare item? If so, I could
point some lucky person in the direction to it. Seems like it would be great
for a Westy! They also had a mid-70's bus with a hightop on it, in fairly
good shape. Tons of Audi 5000's with engines still in place.....this
particular yard is known for it's low prices.
