the reason is simple... money, money money... to the best of my knowledge, all parts for tdis are made in germany and only the jetta tdi and gas are assemble in mexico, golf and passat in germany. Vw of america is not selling enough of these vehicules in the states, so they are quietly leaving the market, while these cars are in great demand in europe. and I have to say that, this is also affecting the canadian market ... our fuels or gas are around 2.50$cdn for the equivalent of a U.S. gallon, so these cars are really liked in canada, and in great demand also ! some dealers have problems getting the tdi. BUT THAT'S LIFE.
