I don't know what you guys are doing that I am not. But I have an 86 vanagon with an automatic and the best I have ever done on the open road is 19-20 MPG and around 16 MPG in the city.

Its done that for years even with new plugs and O2 sensor.

The van is usually driven at sea level.

The original window sticker EPA estimate that came with the van was 16 overall.

What are you guys doing that I am missing?
