Also, check the compression of all cylinders. #3 is the cylinder that is most likely to drop valves and burn pistons, since it receives the least cooling.

Did you replace the distributor cover and rotor? The cover can have a crack in it, and not giving any juice to the #3 cylinder. I've seen it several times, in any type of cover (original and FLAPS) and any type of car (German, US, Japanese).
