Thanks to all very much for your revelations, sympathies and kind suggestions as to what to do next. Mark, can we surmise that mice with suicide ideations have heard that the Vanagon is the ultimate death trap? :-) Darrel, I'm sure that the other list members are shocked at our having spoken, although by using the written word rather than the spoken one we have technically kept our reputation intact for being mum on any and all subjects. :-) Chuck, thank you too for the sage advice. I had never noticed the openings at the ends of the intake openingnor around the battery cable. I will definitely check them out and plug them poste haste. Also, thanks very much to Jim Arnott for privately e-mailing the step by step instructions of how to remove the dash to get at the heater and ducting system. Much appreciated! Exactly what I needed. BTW, do the later versions of Bentley have specifics to the waterboxer heater?

Cheers, Daryl
