Dear List, Thanks to all who suggested replacing the headlight switch in order to brighten the dashboard display at night. I have improved my situation significantly by exchanging my original switch for the one that was in my parts hulk. Before installing that one, I brushed out the dust and sprayed a little electronic cleaner on the rheostat contact. Now I am going to fashion a little wooden wedge to keep the adjusting wheel from going anywhere but the maximum brightness setting. I am guessing a brand new switch would yield even brighter gauges, but I am settling for this free solution for the time being. Woody |
