The company said it expects 1999 profit to be ``about the same'' as last year's. ... In the U.S., the company had its best results since 1974, as Volkswagen-brand unit sales rose 40.2 percent to 239,383 vehicles. Audi's unit sales rose 44.7 percent to 46,746 vehicles.
