Not trying to bad mouth this item but from the picture it is obviously used
and has been power washed to make it look a little nicer (I have done this
many times to transmissions so I know what they look like after a good
washin').  The guy says that he found it at his dealer and it is used so what
other conclusion can you come to than it is bad and was replaced by a new
unit.  Do you know of any dealer that stocks used parts?  I don't.  I would
buy it as a rebuildable core only and if it is good then you have a bonus.
