Keith I have the same problem every fall when I start to use the heater. I'm sure this is only an interim fix but it worked last year, drive down the road with heater vents open and when you are at max speed turn the fan on high, with any luck the force of air and electricity will free up the fan. I ran the fan for quite a long time after it started working and my guess is it freed up the bearings a bit. As I said I'm sure we're in for new motors soon but maybe you can put off the inevitable a bit. I also looked at trying to get to the fan and it looks almost inaccessable.
