Sorry, should have put the <F> in the subject. Didn't mean to insult you, you have enough problems. There is a special VW tool shown in the Bentley manual for this installation. I would flag down the next Snap On truck you see and show him the picture. They probably have it or something that will work. You could possibly bend the tips of a scissor clamp type ring compressor at a right angle and make it work. The water jacket is cast with the case, it does not come off and does not provide much room to work.
