I wouldn't strike the rack to remove the tie rod but the other end at the knuckle is a different story. A tap on the side of the tie rod hole (perpindicular to the tapered tie rod part) and it will pop right out. The knuckle is beffy enough to take it. Of course the best way is with a special tool that pushes the tie rod out as shown in Bentley, but who has one of those special tools handy? Todd Francis
